Mmm Hornblower. I'm slowly making my way through the first movie, since there's only so much embarrassment of a character I can take at one time. >.> but heeeh.

Haha, I don't mind embarrassment of characters. It's when a character does something that isn't meant to be embarrassing but turns out to be utterly cringeworthy that I have to look away.

I'm actually kind of surprised he lasted that long before ralphing though. He looked as sick as a dog before he'd even boarded the ship.

*nods* That. Which also happens to him. I mean, really... ahem. I do need to get back to it. *wry* Ioan too pretty not to? I mean, he obviously survives that boat-not-ship trip, but. He's such a kid, in that first episode at least.

Bahah yes. As a total stranger to seasickness I cannot know how it works precisely, but yes, he totally did look badly even before he boarded.

I watched the first one yesterday so I might watch the second later. And eh, I don't think he's that pretty. I'm liking the show so far, but he just doesn't do anything for me.

*nodnod* In the first ep he looks like he should have n00b painted on his forehead.

I came back from a school trip to France on a ferry and got seasick. It's godawful. I didn't throw up, but I had to lie down all the way back.

Mmm. I've been watching the first one, on and off, for a few months now. >.> and I think I more than a little blame my muses who are in love with a muse pb'ed by him. *lips twitch* Then again, they are both very strong presences in my brainspace, so.

Haha good. Since, you know. Hornblower, according to Wiki, is supposed to be 17 in the first one. Which. n00b. KID!

Aws! I don't think I support any version of motion sickness ... ahem. At least I haven't had any indications so far? But it doesn't sound like fun.

Haha. I use him to PB a character, actually. And someone I roleplay with uses him, and someone who roleplays with my ioan character roleplays with someone else who uses him as well. All by coincidence. Weird.

I think it says he's 17 somewhere on the actual show. I haven't read the wiki page but I know that, so it must be on the first ep at some point.

And I don't, most of the time. On the journey to Calais I was fine; it was just the journey back that knocked me for six.

Haha. Well he is... okay, charming. [personal profile] kittydesade started a character to play against one of mine (which turned into two of mine) and when time came to choose him a face, it ended up Ioan. Which meant that I did get on a Ioan binge. *sighs* I even watched Fantastic Four?

*nods* probably. And Ioan was 25 (probably 24 when the first film was shot). But yeah, he does give the n00b! Easy prey! vibe quite well. And he's trying so hard! >.>

Aws! I hope you don't get it again! ... now I want to sail. *facepalms* somewhere, but across the Channel seems a good choice. *peers out the (dark) window* Maybe I'll check if there are excursion boats along the Danube, this season. I think there usually are, in the summer.

Ooh, Fantastic Four. I watched the sequel a good while back and decided never to delve into that dark universe ever again. Even if everything else about it had been...well...fantastic, I just couldn't sit through Susan Storm's fail for women everywhere again. "You're trying to save the entire world on my wedding day?! How selfish of you!"

Yeah, I think he makes a good job of it. He's like that quiet, dorky kid who gets picked on in school.

Well, I don't really go on boats often because I hate water. Actually, [insanejournal.com profile] pay_the_piper and I have agreed that we will never go on the Jaws ride at Universal Studios because she's terrified of sharks and I'm terrified of water and it involves both of those. I think we'd be in tears by the end.

That sounds nice. I do, despite everything, like the idea of boat trips because you get to see a lot of landscape in a short time and in a way you wouldn't see it from the land. I just hate the fact that the boat has to be in the water.

... ahem. I haven't yet braved the sequel and am growing even less sure I want to? >.> even for Ioan.

Well, he's the quiet, dorky, conscientious kid who gets picked on in the midshipmen's mess. >.> Or, you know. Wherever. Except that he did manage to get his own 'crew' under good hold. Admirably.

Aws! Oy. I just realised it's almost eleven years since the time I was at Universal Studios (in Florida). Pffft. Weeeeird.

Yeah, I...wouldn't say it's worth it. Keep watching Hornblower instead.

True, but he sort of had to. It was either get your shit together or forever be plagued by that psycho whose hair colour was completely different to his eyebrows.

I was there...over 14 years ago. My most distinct memory of it that I have is of some guy trying to hang out of that big Jaws they have on the pier so that his girlfriend could take a photo.

... yeah, I might as well. Or, you know. Rewatching King Arthur, skipping KK's scenes. Ahem.

Now I kinda sorta want to metaquote this? *giggles* ahem. But maybe as with the previous time I put something there, people won't get it. But this? Is precious. (Also, as a major fan of, um, Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility, the youtube fanvids I've seen of further down the line of Hornblower have made me go, OH WAIT, THAT'S WICKHAM! or... Bingley, etc. >.>)

Aaaah you beat me there! *grins* I don't think I was interested in Jaws exhibit then? But the Tower of Terror was a blast, for me, as well as the Star Wars exhibits. And the Indiana Jones stunt show. Aaah. good times >.>

Date: 2009-01-22 02:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] realhorrorshow.insanejournal.com
I haven't seen that. Actually, I'd momentarily forgotten he was in it.

Ooh, I don't think I've ever been metaquoted. If I have then I've completely forgotten it, which is something I do pretty easily.

I'm lost when it comes to period drama. Although I do recognise half the cast from somewhere else. And actually, I saw a clip of Philip Glenister in one of the later ones and was all 'IT'S GENE, HAHAHA!!!' and clapped like an excited sealion.

The tower wasn't built when I went. I did see the Indy show though! We went to a Beetlejuice one as well, which was just hilarious. Ohhh, and the Back to the Future ride! They don't have that anymore and it was fantastic!

Hah. Actually, among the (admittedly, limited) range of parts I've seen him in, that will be my favourite. >.>

*giggles* Ahem. Apparently I find amusing things that most people just go on staring blankly or going, 'bzuh?' at. That said, the comm is still fun to watch, some of the time!

Bahaha. I could probably recite blocks of those two (Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility) by heart, seen them so many times. But yeah, things like that. And I still need to see Life on Mars, don't I

*nods* yes, it was newish when I was there. But mmm. yes, fun times! *will not plan on possible visit to France just to check out what they've set up there, nope, not really. Yet.*

From: [identity profile] realhorrorshow.insanejournal.com
Yeah, I've only seen him in about...five things, and two of those I don't remember seeing him in at all. Out of the remaining three, Hornblower's probably the best.

Well, the conversation me and EJ had should give you a good example of our humour.

And yes, you need to see Life on Mars. Not the US remake though, or if you must see it, see it after our version. Our version's better.

I went to EuroDisney about eight years ago. It's smaller, rainier and full of French people. So yeah, nowhere near as good as the parks in Florida.
