You know how I feel about this already because we've ranted about it so many times over IM, so let me share a little story from my part of the world. This woman gave birth to conjoined twins late in December 2008. She knew they were conjoined prior to birth and her doctors told her to have an abortion because there was a high chance they'd both die. But mummy to be went against that and had them anyway, and guess what? They both died. That didn't stop the press making her look like some strong-in-the-face-of-adversity hero type though. Meanwhile, her doctors were treated like Sweeney fucking Todd even though they were right.
You have to love how motherhood and the medical profession are portrayed through television and newspaper articles, you really do.
