Here are 100 facts/quirks/historical notes/whatever about me. It's not just a list. It's a list with commentary, sometimes up to a paragraph, sometimes just a sentence each. Some of them are profound. Some of them include things like favorite color and band. A lot of them are my little life story notes. The first 50 are mostly life history with commentary, the second 50 more random facts about likes/dislikes/spirituality/habits/etc. Feel free to read or not--a lot of it's stuff I never talk about that may or may not be interesting to you.

I stoled it from Ana, who did this like a year ago. But seeing as I’m bored, I thought I’d see if I could think up a hundred facts. Go me.

1. My first and middle name combine to mean, literally, ‘Blissful Joy’. Interestingly enough the B and J are my mother’s initials. I would say she planed it that way, but I already know my first name came from a romance novel.

2. If I had been born a boy? I would have been Reginald. Yes, yes my father was going to name me Reggie. If my sister had been a boy, she would have gotten to be a Brian. So…why couldn’t they just have kept Brian? I’m sure (if I’d been male) I’d make a good Brian. But…Reggie?

3. I’ve suffered from Insomnia since I was a baby. My mom says that when I was about one or so, that I’d only sleep at most 4 or 5 hours at a time. This was largely due to a number of things such as chronic ear-infections and night terrors.

4. Contrary to popular belief, I am a shy person. I’m not really sure why people insist I’m not. The idea of just saying hi to someone makes me want to cry inside.

5. I’ve been an Aunt since I was 10. My sister is ten years older than me, and she was a few months off of 20 when Terra was born.

6. I have a dog that is, seriously, name “OMG!ITSJUDELAW”…We call her Jude for short. This is all because when I got her, the shelter had named her Sarah. What kind of a name is Sarah? I was one the phone with Mo, and she decided that we (together) should name Jude…well OMG!ITSJUDELAW. We laughed, it stuff. It is always fun trying to explain it to the vet :D.

7. My cat’s name is Cringer. As in HeMan’s green and yellow tiger. One of my co-workers had a bunch of kittens, and I was holding one (my baby) when she offered to give him to me. At that same moment, my ex came into the office and I was all “awww, we’re keeping him.” The deal was Charles got to name the cat if we kept it. He was nice enough to give my the choice between Cringer or Battlecat.

8. The first person I ever fell in love with was also the first person to ever break my heart. For most people it would seem to be the way it should go, but I think someone doesn’t have to be in love to have others break their heart.

9. When I was a kid I turned my backyard into my private world. I had a swing-set that was my F-14. A giant Pine Tree was the control tower. The creek was a moat around a castle, and vines hanging over it were a bunch of dragons. There was my neighbor’s garden on one said that I called ‘farm land’ and the other neighbors had a wall of bushes. It was considered the end of the known world.

10. When I was a kid I used to use anything that was around as a toy. For a long time I used to pretend I was a witch, and made ‘potions’ in a bucket of water with random flowers I found.

11. When I was three my dad stared his PhD. Research at Iowa State. He moved up north, and for a year lived away from home. For me, I think, it was hard. I was a daddy’s girl, and used to wait by the phone for him to call.

12. Incidentally, my first memories are from when I was 3. There really is much to it, but I was still in this green and white dress I had back then, and playing with a doll my Grandma Potts had given me when I was a baby. I was, in fact, waiting in my mom’s room for my dad to call home.

13. The first time I saw snow I was three. My dad bought me an orange sled with blue handles.

14. Also when I was three, my sister shut the window on my fingers. My dad had to come to the rescue.

15. I started to play soccer when I was 6. I continued to play until I was 18. I won a state championship with my High School team.

16. When I was a kid? I really wanted to be a fighter-pilot, a doctor, a super hero, and own a unicorn.

17. I collect unicorns. In fact, I insist on having at least one in my house at all times. This comes from my childhood when I had nightmares about things trying to kill me. A unicorn
always seemed to come to my rescue.

18. I had a crush on Doogie Howser. Yes, yes I did.

19. I used to play Evercrack (EverQuest for the uninformed). Before I quit I had two level
25 + characters, and my main character that was level 54 with all skills maxed out. To top it off, I was a guild officer, and was popular enough on my server that people would (seriously) just come by and give me gifts of all sorts. Usually because I was kind enough to go help them when no one else would, even when I was in the middle of things. How I ever made it to 54 is beyond me.

20. Sometimes I think I miss playing EQ, and then I remember it cost too damn much. However, when I’m at my sisters, I still sometimes log on to play on her account.

21. I am the shortest member in my family. My sister is 5’10, my mother 5’8, cousin Katie is 5’9. All the guys are over 6 feet. My 15 year old niece? Is 5’8 now. The other two kids are still growing. If it weren’t for short people marrying in to the clan, I’d be doomed. And that is just one my dad’s side. On my mom’s side? I’m still the shortest. Fuckers.

22. My favorite color is blue. I don’t have a good reason why, other than my birthstone is blue. So, eh.

23. I share a birthday with Tommy Lee Jones.

24. If I could meet someone in history, there is a big part of me that wishes it could be Mao Zedong, or Stalin. I don’t know why, I just wish I could. I would ask what made them chose the things they did, and why they felt it was right. I think Mao, more than Stalin, might have actually wanted to do something good for China.

25. I smoke, but when I was a kid? I used to hate the idea of smoking. Ironic that we grow up to do the things we hated.

26. I don’t know how old I was, but when I was a little kid I fell off my bike and busted both of my knees pretty bad. I fell because some dog ran out in front of me and I hit it. It then came back and bit my hand. I sat there crying until some guy came and took me home.

27. I got used to doing things alone, from playing by myself to staying at the house. It sort of started when I was about 6, and after school I’d come home to an empty house. My sister was, of course, supposed to be home but she usually wasn’t. So I took care of myself until my parents got home.

28. I used to sleepwalk. The scariest moment with sleepwalking was when I woke up in the bathtub, the water still going. It was only because it had turned cold and was lapping against my face that I woke up. I never told my parents, I was 13 at the time. Everyone had thought I’d grown out of the sleepwalking, apparently I hadn’t.

29. I hate closest. I don’t like them, even more, when I can walk into them and have the door closed behind me. It isn’t because I’m Closter phobic, as cars and whatever do not bother me. It is because I was 4, and I work up from a nightmare. With my room being pitch black, I tried to go to my mom and dad’s room. I ended up in the closest. I screamed bloody murder after what seemed a lifetime of trying to get out of a box. For me it was like my nightmare had come to life.

30. I started taking swim lessons when I was two or three. I honestly can’t recall a time that I didn’t know how to swim. By the time I was 10, I had completed all swim levels for the YMCA and Red Cross. I was just too young to do the Red Crosses pre-lifeguard levels. But, when I was 11, my instructor was at a lost what to do with me. When everyone else had to do laps of front crawl, I was doing the butterfly. So he broke the rules, and made me take a crash course in pre-guard training.

31. When I went to Junior High I joined the swimteam. I was never the fastest swimmer, but I had something no one else on the team had- a technical, excellent stroke.

32. I started high school at the county school, but graduated from the city school. This was a lot like my best friend, Ana. Only she went to MSMS too. I decided I didn’t want to leave home, particularly because of my athletic teams.

33. Ana is six days younger than me. But she graduated a year before me. All because she started school is Mary-land.

34. I went to DC with my mom and grandparents when I was 5. The day we got home, I was playing on some monkey bars and slipped off. I came home, and my mom took me to the ER. I had dislocated all the little carpals in my wrist. Then they reset them, however, it made my hand sit at a funny angel. So instead of instead of laying with a most straight line from elbow to pinky, my right hand has about a 20 degree tilt to the outside.

35. Playing soccer I broke the growth plate in my foot and hyper-extended two of my fingers. I also jammed (broke-ish) my fingers half a dozen times. I also pulled both hamstrings, developed tendentious in both feet, and have had at least two concussions.

36. Outside of soccer I have broken both arms, and sprained my right ankle in four places all at once.

37. I used to think the idea of owning an ipod was pretty stupid. Then my mother and father gave me one for Christmas a few years back. Now the idea of not having one makes me frown.

38. I like Hair-Bands. Sorry.

39. I like Guns N’Roses, but Axel Rose pisses me off. I don’t know why, but the idea that he didn’t give a shit about his fans back in the day makes me not care much for him as a person.

40. I used to watch cartoon network exclusively for a while in college, when I wasn’t working. Now I watch it when I remember something I wanted to see is on.

41. I was always happiest when I was working 30 hours and taking a full load of classes. I was so busy I didn’t have time to think about what I’d like to do on a weekend. Or even RP all that much, but I managed.

42. I used to be the President of Student Council in college. I hated it. And the only reason I did it was because the others never did things right.

43. One day I plan to go to a World Cup, to watch…not to play.

44. I have plans to go to Italy with Ana for my 30th birthday. I hope to drag Antha along with me.

45. Two of my closest friends live a couple hundred thousand miles away from me. I mostly talk to them online. I sometimes wonder if this makes me seem like a crazy cat lady, then I remember that I couldn’t find better friends.

46. I met Ana when I was in seventh grade, and in eighth grade be became great friends. We bonded in a conversation that maybe we shouldn’t have, but the end result was great. It has been 11 years now.

47. Knowing someone for 11 years has a strange way of putting life into perspective. Particularly when it doesn’t feel like it has been that long.

48. I cry at children’s movies. Not just cry, really. No, I sob. And I’m fairly ok with that. Even if my friends laugh at me.

49. Horror movies still give me nightmares. Especially if they have zombies.

50. I have one phobia I can think of. I’m absolutely terrified of sharks. I discovered this purely by accident. I knew sharks always gave me a bit of the creeps, but it wasn’t until I was in New Orleans, and a friend of my tried to put my hand in a tank with baby nurse sharks that I realized just how bad it was. I flipped. I nearly hit her, and I did scream at her. Needless to say, no one else tried to talk me into petting the little creatures I could just IMAGINE chewing off my arm. Sorry to everyone that thinks this is ridiculous, but no. No, I’m not going to just magically love sharks.

51. Going on with the shark talk, I can’t stand to watch movies where sharks attack people. I actually skip the scenes. It disappoints some of my friends, but I like my heart in my chest.

52. My second biggest, irrational fear? Zombies. They make me want to hide, and give me nightmares. In these nightmares I always seem to die by Zombie-feasting. When people dress up like them for Halloween, it seriously creeps me out.

53. I have a habit of not eating even when I’m hungry. I seem to put it off for an hour or two after I’ve started that whole ‘I’m hungry’ tummy grumble. It isn’t healthy, and it is a quick way of forgetting to eat all together. It really sucks when I get to the point of not remembering if I ate at all the day before or not.

54. I have a condition called Syncope. Which is sort of this fancy way of saying I have fainting spells, but not just any fainting spells. In order for me to have an ‘episode’ certain requirements are needed. 1) Lack of substantial food in the last 12 hours or so, 2) Lack of restful sleep, and 3) usually induced by sudden pain and/or sight of blood. (Usually the pain gets me. Blood is a bit eh.) As we can see, I have plenty of chances to fall victim.

55. I’m easily distracted by my other thoughts. I can be in the middle of writing, and just start thinking of random topics. Then I just sort of never stop until someone pokes me.

56. I support gay rights because I’m an idealist, not because I want that lifestyle. In fact? Male/Male and Female/Female kissing? The sight of it still makes me uncomfortable; even though I have more than RPed my fair share of slash.

57. My heart broke a teeny bit when I found out Neil Patrick Harris was gay. 

58. However, if I was a guy (and gay) I would totally be one of those really bad fanboys that screamed “Stef I want to Marry You” whenever I say Stefan Olsdal. No lie. I would be.

59. Some people seem to assume I have a thing for Brian Molko because I use his face for three RP characters. The thing is I don’t really have a thing for him in the sense that I find in attractive. When I really get to thinking about it, he kind seems like a dork to me. But all that aside? He just has one of those faces that works for these characters. I like his face. If he could just let me have it, I’d be all peachy keen and shit.

60. I want to steal Brian Molko’s clothes. Luckly, we are about the same size.

61. I think Brad Pitt is hot, but I couldn’t ever use him as an RP face. For that matter, I wouldn’t ever want to meet him. The minute I find out he’s really a jerk all my delusions of how awesome he is are going to die miserably.

62. As far as RP goes, I tend to play more males than females. Mostly this is because, I guess, my female characters always seem to end up about the same: crazy, bitchy, or whores. I’ve just never been able to have one stick since before I started RPing on LJ. Before LJ? I rocked out the girls.

63. My vampires consume most of my time, in that they are strangely popular and I haven’t a clue why.

64. I like villains in a story. I tend to find them and fall in a small way for them. I don’t want to change them; I don’t have delusions that they’d not kill me in a heart beat. I just…I want to follow them around like a puppy until they get fucking sick of me, and kick me off the cliff. Is that really too much to ask for?

65. I think Heroes get boring, sometimes. Particularly the ones that are never anything less that the perfect good guy. I like flaws. Flaws make people interesting.

66. Antha says I love crack. Or that I smoke it daily. Go figure.

67. I feel like people sometimes put me on a pedestal I don’t belong. But then I also feel like people blow smoke up my ass about my characters too. It really sort of jives to the same beat in my head.

68. At one point I honestly wanted to be a writer, but then I felt as if my writing was sub-par. So I stopped day dreaming about it. Even today I feel like I’m a weak writer. I suppose it is my own demon I have to fight with.

69. When I was a kid I used to feel like I could disappear and no one would notice. My parents were always focused on work and my sister, my sister on her own life and kids, my cousins were always getting my dad to go to their school stuff, and me? I was the one my grandma Raphelt said would never amount to anything. There are days I still feel like I could disappear and no one would notice.

70. I’m not close to my family. I would rather spend the holidays with friends than with my family. I think this comes from my childhood and feeling like everyone was more concerned with everyone else but me. And yes, before anyone ask, I was the middle grandchild. Right smack between two sets of twins.

71. Someone once told me they couldn’t imagine me as less than confident about anything I did. I in turn told them that I was the least confident person I knew, I was just always afraid to let people see that.

72. Sometimes I feel emotionally broken. I don’t really now what else to say about that.

73. Secretly, I wish I’d read comics as a kid so I could RP a comic-book character.

74. I think Joker is probably one of the best villains in literature. He’s cheesy, yeah, but for all his evilness, he makes me laugh.

75. I have this weird need for thing in my journals to be even. It doesn’t really carry into Real life too much, but if things are going to be neat…everything has to be neat. Or everything has to be crazy. It can’t be mixed.

76. My ex and I used to argue over if Batman was a superhero or not. I finally told him to shut up, saying Batman kicked Superman righteous stupid ass. :D Don’t mess with the BATMAN.

77. My Grandpa Potts raised cattle. When I was little I used to try to help him feed the herd. I my favorite part was giving the calves bottles because it was one of the few times they let you close enough to pet them.

78. I tend to RP assholes. True facts.

79. When they aren’t assholes, they tend to be idiots.

80. I went to the same college, at the same time, as Eli Manning for three years. You know, he wasn’t all that great of a player then either.

81. I own 200+ dvds. I like movies, can we tell?

82. I also own close to 200 books. I like to read too.

83. I don’t always remember that I wanted to watch things on TV. It is ultimately why I never keep up with shows, I just…forget about them. Or I find something else to do and don’t remember until after the fact that this was, in fact ‘Thursday, and that show comes on at 8.”

84. I have a bad habit of treating people inferior to me when they challenge something I know to be right. I don’t mean to, but I suppose I’ve learned it after years of having to prove I wasn’t worthless or stupid to my grandmother.

85. I like to play Final Fantasy games. That is the single reason I own a playstation.

86. When the history channel came about, I watched it like kids watch cartoons.

87. My sister seems to think that I will some day be pagan and gay. I disagree with her on both.

88. I started Ole Miss with a German, Poli Sci dual major, then went to Civil engineering, and then to History and English dual major, and finally I transferred to Spartan and am graduating with an Avionics degree. I plan to go back to school and finish an engineering degree because my job will pay for it.

89. I work for a company that provides Oil Companies with every tool they could dream of. They also provide me with nice benefits.

90. I am 30% deft in both ears.

91. I want a Furby 10 years after they came out. I hated them at the time, but looking back I wish I had one. Just so I could be all “this is from my childhood.”

92. I remember when gas was 99 cents a gallon, and my Jeep Wrangler was full on twelve dollars. I miss those days.

93. I have plans for when I buy my next Wrangler. I know all the stories about how it isn’t a responsible car for today’s market, but I miss my Jeep. I want it to be blue, manual transmission, Rhino-Armored floors so that draining it easy, water resistant vinyl seats, and off road tires. I want it to be made for fun, and I want to use it just for that.

94. When I was two I have tubes put in my ears to stop my ear-infections.

95. I used to watch doctors take my blood, these days I can’t. I’m too worried about passing out.

96. I wish, sometimes, that I was more dedicated to some of the things I wanted to do with my life. Like studying Egyptian history.

97. Sometimes I daydream about going back in time, and seeing the Pyramid of Giza myself. I wouldn’t want to live there, but I would just like to see it. See all of these things I’ve always wondered about. Heck, I wish I could go see it now without possibly getting shot.

98. I think people give the Roman Empire too much credit sometimes. I think they fail to see the Empire’s shortcomings in favor to praising all the other things about it. It is a bit disappointing.

99. Both my grandfathers served in World War II, one of each front. And both my grandmothers were almost ten years younger than their husbands. To my amusement, my mother is two years older than my father. Obviously she wanted to shake things up a bit.

100. As my last fact I suppose I should say this: I keep a lot of my thoughts to myself. I keep a lot of things that bother me to myself, and a lot of wishes to myself. And when I do tell people things, it is one or two things to one or two people. I think it is hard for anyone to lay all things to bare to any single person. It makes us feel vulnerable.
